Hi, I'm Adam, and I like words. Love them, actually. From literature and poems to puzzles and games, I love seeing how people use language to shape the world around them. I try to bring what I see out in the world into my work as a UX Writer and Content Strategist, where I create thoughtful, engaging experiences. Take a look at my work to see how thoughtful writing can help people.
My first "real" job was as a Reference Attorney, where I worked in a call center helping lawyers, judges, paralegals, and the public as they navigated specialized online research tools. Before leaving that position and transitioning to an editing role in legal publishing, I spent many days helping confused, annoyed, and angry people try to answer some of the most pressing questions in their work and personal lives. I believe this was a big part of my decision to move into UX.
As a UX writer, I get to help shape how people interact with technology. As we continue to become more and more invested in using websites and apps to manage our day-to-day existence, the language presented on those tools has a growing impact on how we see the world around us. I want people to see things in the best light possible.
I've been hooked on games since my first round of Disney Boggle at my aunt's house when I was 4. From Trivial Pursuit to D&D and Canasta to Fallout, I’m a big fan of finding new and different ways to play.
At work, this translates into a passion for creative problem solving, whether I’m working with what I’m given (like a style guide, marketing copy, or legal disclosures) or creating the exact tools I need to solve any problem.
Making people happy is a big part of what drives me. It makes advocating for a user’s needs one of the most important and enjoyable parts of any project I work on.
Understanding the user, their needs, and their motivations is my first step in every project. It creates the benchmark I use to define success, and connecting with the user early on helps keep them in mind as I write.
Organized. Data-driven. Meticulous. A big nerd. Call me what you want, but I like to say I’m pro-information. Give me statistics, facts, and figures, and I'm happy.
I always want to learn and understand more. On a project, I'm passionate about making sure I have the whole picture. In general, this means I'm always trying to expand my skill set, whether through trial and error, articles, video tutorials, or coursework.
